So, I know I have been absent in the extreme but my goodness this week was crazy! This weekend two of my friends and I drove up to Napa valley for some wine tasting. We went to the Mondavi winery, to honour the memory of Robert Mondavi who died a little over a week before we were there. I bought a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon and a really yummy "Moscato D'oro" which is apparently a Mondavi specific dessert wine. (Anything I know about wine I learned from the movie Sideways, so don't quote me on any of this.) I plan on making a fresh blueberry pie to have with the dessert wine. I just need to remember to buy a ton of blueberries tomorrow at the Farmers Market. yum yum. Afterwords Mondavi we had lunch at a great restaurant called Brix, which had the biggest wine list I have seen in my entire life!

We then drove into the city where we shopped and met hot German pilots at an irish piano bar. So fun! We spent monday at the Museum of Modern Art, which was fun even though a large portion was closed to set up a Frida exhibit. Their Media Arts Collection seriously freaked me out. I momentarily felt like I was living in the video from The Ring. I'm easily freaked out. One artist who I am now completely in love with thanks to the trip is Marilyn Minter, whose photo-realistic style is beyond amazing. I can't find a good link to her work, sadly.

Then, Tuesday, I drove back to the city to see Flight of the Conchords which was amazing!! I bought a shirt, and a poster, and I fan-girled a lot. We were in the forth row! And they were funny, and cool, and generally awesome! Though, Bret? Is an insanely skinny little man.

So, last night I went and saw Maria Bamford she is one of the comedians of comedy and is supremely funny, you should totally go watch her show.

So, yes, that was my week! Thanks for reading all this rambling.

So, I've been gone for months and months now (okay, I actually don't know how long it's been) and frankly when I dropped off the face of the internet LJ fandom... was in complete disarray. Basically RL has been, I wouldn't say bad but, let's just say weird. I don't know, the timing of everything IRL worked out so that doing anything fun on the internet just wasn't in the cards. However, I was sitting reading today and I realized how badly I missed everyone on the 'net. *shrugs* So here I am, I may go looking through my f-list to see if I can deduce what's been happening here... I don't know, I just wanted to pop in, say hi. I don't know, I'm going to post before I start rambling uncontrollably.

Hey, I posting this and going to bed. Events have conspired in the last week or so to leave me essentially internet-less. I used to be able to get campus wireless from my apartment, because the art department has offices below me,. I think they are doing construction or something because I no longer can. Family-happenings(god, such craziness, seriously) have conspired to make it impossible to find a good solution to this problem any time soon. I'm sorry, I suck. I'm working on figuring out the best ways to fulfill my fanish obligations. I promise I'm working on it. frick.

Just letting everyone know I'm back. I've spent the last seven hours trying to recover from DH, I haven't, I don't want to talk about, don't expect thoughts from me. I'm feeling so many things, I think if I started I wouldn't be able to stop. I've never cried over a book so much (basically none-stop from the moment I first picked it up. Because it's over. overoverover.).

Oddly? My Percy ficathon gift(that was half-done before I started reading) is going to end up DH compliant. I need to tweak a couple things but otherwise, yea, I can totally set it during the book. Color me surprised.

I think I need to go cry some more. And maybe sleep. I've been up since 7:30[am] yesterday (after falling asleep at 3[am]). Between my lack of sleep and tear-blurred vision I read almost half the chapters twice. LIterally. I would finish it and go "wtf?" and read it again. *sniffs*

I want to know, how do you all feel about the use of Photoshop in fanart? Do you prefer that art be totally natural media, photo-shop colored, all photoshoped, what? I ask because personally it bothers me when artists use the PS "special effects" (like blur and sunburst etc.) and now it occurs to me that I can do ~~poles~~ polls, so here we go.

I was just thinking about what a bad-ass scofflaw Bella is. Also, I've always kind of had the idea that Bella was kind of addicted to Voldemort, so it just makes sense to me that she was on all kinds of drugs when he was gone. Also, I have this image of her detoxing while in a holding cell/Azkaban/whatever. On a style note: things ended up a little... trippy. I ended up playing more than anything. *shrugs*

First off let me say that, in no way, do I think your love for Death Eaters and all their crazy rights, sex-fests and general deviance is in any way bad. In fact, I encourage you. Write and draw all the crazy Death-Eater/Knights of Walpurgis fan-whatever you care to. I will love you for it.

But (you knew there would be a but, didn't you?) please cease and desist at once with this foolish notion that the dark mark is a tattoo of some sort. I realize that the Harry Potter lexicon lists the "Dark Mark (spell)" and "Dark Mark (tattoo)" in their master index. However I feel the above stated quote, which comes directly from the books, overrules a side notation on (the admittedly wonderful) lexicon.

Therefore, if I have to read about Draco/Severus/Bellatrix/Regulus/Etcetera's damned tattoo one more time I may have to slaughter someone.

I consider this reasonable warning.
